A Dhaka court has sent Managing Director of Diamond World Limited Dilip Kumar Agarwala to jail after a remand in a case over the murder of one Hridoy Ahmed, 16, during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi passed the order on Saturday as the investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector Md Sadeq of Badda Police Station, produced Agarwala before the court after a three-day remand and prayed to confine him in jail until the investigation ends.
According to a case document, on July 19, Hridoy Ahmed was shot dead in front of the BRAC University in Badda at around 2pm during the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.
Shahadat Hossain Khan filed a case against 161 individuals, including former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in connection with the incident on August 22.
