Floods forecast in 8 districts

Low-lying areas of eight districts in the country may be inundated next week due to heavy rainfall, according to a report of Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC) on Thursday (September 12).
In view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in the country and upstream, water level of rivers in Chattogram division may increase rapidly in the next three days and submerge some low-lying areas of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Khagrachhari, Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, and Laksmipur districts, the FFWC report said.
The water level of all the major rivers of the country is flowing below the danger level while the water level of Feni, Muhuri, Halda, Sangu and Matamuhuri rivers of the Chattogram division is increasing, while the water level of Gumti River is decreasing.
Besides, in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall in the country, the water level of rivers in Barisal and Khulna divisions may increase in next three days.
