Plea seeks 7-day remand for Farhad Hossain

Police filed an application with a Dhaka court, seeking a seven-day remand for former public administration minister Farhad Hossain who was arrested in a case filed over the killing of a garments worker Rubel during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Adabar Thana Abdul Malek, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the remand prayer on Sunday (September 15).
Hearing on the remand petition will be held at the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate.
Earlier, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested former public administration minister Farhad Hossain in the city’s Eskaton area last night.
The former minister was accused in cases of gun firing on student-people and killing during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5.
It was learnt that garments worker Rubel was killed during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in August last.
Rubel’s father Rafikul Islam filed a case in this connection against 148 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina with Adabar Thana and Farhad Hossain is one of the accused in this case.
Farhad Hossain became full minister in the 12th parliament. He was the Member of Parliament for three consecutive times from Meherpur-1 constituency.
