PBI asked to probe murder case against Benazir, Shahidul

A Chapainawabganj court has asked Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to investigate into a murder case filed against ex-director general (DG) of RAB Benazir Ahmed and ex-inspector general of police (IGP) Shahidul Haque.
Julekha Begum, wife of victim Abul Hossain Babu, filed the case with the Gomostapur Cognizance Court on September 12 for killing her husband after abduction by the law enforcers in 2018.
The other accused of the case are- former RAB official Mozammel Hoque, 50; Monirul IslamTulu, 50 and Md Morsalin, 34.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Abu Taleb fixed September 18 for the order after primary hearing on September 12.
The court today passed the order and asked PBI to submit the report after investigation, fixing the next hearing on November 8, 2024, said lawyer of the plaintiff Advocate Nurul Islam Sentu.
According to the case statement, law enforcers picked up Abul Hossain Babu from Rohonpur Bus Stand area under Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj district on September 5, 2018 and killed him in the name of crossfire.
His bullet-hit body was found at Rohonpur Health Complex the following day.
