Youth beaten to death at DU: 6 students arrested

Four students have been arrested in connection with the death of a youth named Tofazzal Hossain at Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall on the Dhaka University campus.
The youth was beaten to death by a group of students on Wednesday night on suspicion of being a thief.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP Mohammad Talebur Rahman confirmed this at a press conference at its media center on Thursday evening.
Five students have been arrested and efforts are underway to arrest others.
The arrestees are Jalal Mia, 25, former deputy secretary of science and technology affairs of Bangladesh Chhatra League's FH unit also a student of physics department, Al Hossain Sazzad of geography department and Sumon Mia of soil, water and environment department, Muttakin Sakin of Institute of Nutrition and Food Science (INFS), Ahsan Ullah and Wazibul Alam.
Earlier, on behalf of the university administration, a supervisor named Mohammad Amanullah filed a case with Shahbagh Thana on Thursday (September 19).
The deceased was identified as Tofazzal from Barisal. He was mentally challenged, it was learnt.
