BCB suspends Hathurusingha

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has suspended men's national team head coach Chandika Hathurusingha.

The BCB has taken the decision before completion of one year of his tenure.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed disclosed this at a press briefing on Tuesday (October 15).

He also announced name of Philip Simmons, a former cricketer of the West Indies, as next head coach. He will be appointed for 100 days.

"We have served Hathurusinga with a showcase notice and suspended him from the duty as head coach today," Faruque said.

"We have decided to appoint an interim coach for the upcoming South Africa, UAE, West Indies tour and ICC Champions Trophy in the next year."

Hathurusingha's suspension will come with immediate effect, Faruque informed.

"Hathurusingha has been told to reply to his showcause notice within 48 hours and his suspension will come with immediate effect," the BCB boss said, adding that after that his contract will be suspended.
