Notification on search committee for EC formation soon: Law Adviser

Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has said a gazette notification regarding the search committee for the formation of the Election Commission will be issued today or tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday).

He made the announcement while addressing journalists after a meeting with Volker Turk, the United Nations high commissioner for Human Rights, at the Secretariat on Tuesday (October 29).

“The recommendation has been submitted to the chief adviser for signature. You will know about the circular after the chief adviser signs it,” Asif Nazrul said.

“After the formation of the search committee, the Election Commission will be constituted. Then, the voter list will be updated as there were a lot of questions about the voter lists,” he added.

“The people of the country had no headache over the voter list as the previous elections were fake ones. This time, we will hold a free and fair election,” he said.
