A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Cumilla-6 lawmaker AKM Bahauddin Bahar, his wife Meherunnesa, daughter and former mayor of Cumilla City Corporation Tahseen Bahar Shuchona and his son Aiman Bahar over graft allegations of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Jakir Hossain passed the order on Monday.
He was elected from Cumilla-6 constituency in the 10th National Parliament election. He is the founding president of Cumilla city unit of Awami League. AKM Bahauddin was elected twice as the chairman of Cumilla Municipality.
“The ACC in its primary investigation learned they have bought flats and plots in different parts of the country through the money amassed from corruption. They are trying to hand over the properties and trying to flee the country. So they should be barred from leaving the country to make them stand before the court, the ACC plea said.
