Petition filed in tribunal seeking ban on Hasina`s hate speech

The prosecution team filed a petition with the International Crime Tribunal (ICT) seeking ban of the hate speech of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The hearing will be held at the three-member bench of the tribunal led by Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder on Thursday (December 5).

Sheikh Hasina fled the country on August 5 following the mass uprising. She is currently in India. From there, she is making various comments about the interim government. She is talking to leaders and activists on the phone and asking them to spread her statements. Those speeches are going viral on social media.

The prosecution says that the petition is made to stop all the 'hate' speeches.

Earlier, on 18 November, the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) granted one month to its investigation agency to complete its probe in cases filed, over the genocide and crimes against humanity committed during the revolution that toppled the Awami League government in July-August this year, against ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and others.
