Biswa Ijtema:  Visa restrictions for several countries including Syria

To avoid any unexpected situation during Biswa Ijtema, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has decided to tighten visa requirements for devotees from several countries including Syria and Myanmar. 

Especially, devotes from countries where extremist religious groups are involved in destructive activities have been discouraged and it has been informed to Tabligh Jamaat. 

Such a decision was taken at a meeting held recently at the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the Biswa Ijtema.

As per the decision of the meeting, to avoid any situation, the Ministry of Home Affairs has also directed to issue visas to applicants from several countries including Syria after verifying the documents. 

Visas should be issued only if the information is found to be correct.

Guests from countries Syria, Yemen, Nigeria, Iraq, Somalia, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Sudan, Libya, Chad, Mali, Tunisia, Palestine, and Israel will face close scrutiny.

The first phase of the Bishwa Ijtema will be organized by the followers of Maulana Mohammad Zubair of the Tabligh Jamaat (Shurai Nejam) from January 31 to February 2.

The second phase of the Bishwa Ijtema will be organized by the followers of Maulana Saad from February 7 to 9. The two-phase Bishwa Ijtema will be held on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi.
