Shaon, Saba under intense interrogation at DB office

Actress Meher Afroz Shaon and actress Sohana Saba, who were detained on charges of conspiring against the state, are being extensively interrogated at Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police in the capital.

Regarding the issue, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DB Muhammad Talebur Rahman said they are now in our custody.

However, it has not yet been determined in which case they will be arrested. The decision will be announced later, he added.

DB sources said Meher Afroz Shaon and Sohana Saba are accused of conspiring against the country.

National Film Award winner Shaon collected the Awami League nomination form from the Mymensingh Division to run for the reserved women's seat in the 12th National Parliament election in 2024. Her mother, Tahura Ali, was a member of parliament for the reserved seat in the National Parliament.

On the other hand, there were allegations against Sohana Saba that during the anti-discrimination student movement in July last year, she and a group of artists were active against the movement in a WhatsApp group called 'Alo Asbei'.
