Former mayor Atiqul sent to jail

Former mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Atiqul Islam has been sent to jail after a remand in a murder case.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afroz Tithi issued the order on Friday.

He was produced before the court after a three-day remand in the murder case.

Md Fazlul Karim was killed during the anti-discrimination movement on August 5 in 2024.

The deceased’s brother Anowar Hossain Ainal filed a case accusing Atiqul Islam and others with Uttara East Thana on August 21.
