764 `deprived` govt officials promoted

The public administration ministry has issued a gazette granting retrospective promotions to 764 retired officials who were deprived during their tenure under the Awami League government.

Five separate notifications were published in this regard on Sunday (February 9).

According to the notification, 119 officials were elevated to secretary, 528 to additional secretary, 41 to grade-1, 72 to joint secretary, and 4 to deputy secretary.

Earlier, 1,500 retired officials claimed to have been deprived during the Awami League tenure. The government promoted 764 from them.
