Police charged baton and used water cannons and sound grenades to disperse assistant teacher appointment seekers who blocked Shahbagh intersection on Monday (10 February).
The appointment seekers who were recommended for government primary schools in Dhaka (under the third phase of recruitment) and Chattogram (fourth phase) divisions started gathering after 11:00am.
They chanted slogans against the cancellation.
At one stage, they blocked the Shahbagh intersection, demanding immediate recruitment.
On 6 February, the High Court cancelled the process of appointing 6,531 assistant teachers for government primary schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
The court also directed the authorities to start a fresh recruitment process based on merit.
