Hasan Mahamud, the chief reporter of risingbd.com, has been awarded with the Media Fellowship for his report on the promising new sector of 'Cosmetics, Skincare, and Personal Care.' 

A total of 30 mainstream journalists from the country have received this Media Fellowship Award.
 
On Monday afternoon, invited guests presented the award-winning journalists with crests, certificates, and prize money at the auditorium of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP). 

The event's chief guest was Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, Director General of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection.

Also present were Abdul Jalil and Fakir Muhammad Munawar Hossain, directors of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection; Jamal Uddin, Secretary General of the Association of Skincare and Beauty Products Manufacturers and Exporters of Bangladesh (ASBMEB); senior journalist Manowar Hossain; and film actor Siam Ahmed, among others.

The fellowship was jointly organized by the Association of Skincare and Beauty Products Manufacturers and Exporters of Bangladesh (ASBMEB) and the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection.

The participating fellows collected field data and published reports in their respective media outlets on the sector's prospects, challenges, and ways to overcome them. 

Among them, Jasim Uddin Badal of Daily Samakal was the best in the print media category, DM Nazmul Hossain of Jago News 24.com in the online category, and Selim Malik of RTV in the television category.
 
At the event, Mohammad Alim Akhtar Khan, Director General of the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, stated that the media can play a significant role in preventing counterfeit products in the market and protecting consumer interests. He assured that if journalists highlight discrepancies in products through their investigative reports, the Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection will take swift actions.

Actor Siam Ahmed mentioned that Remark-Harlan's products are now being exported abroad beyond the country's borders. He also urged consumers to use the authentic products of the local company Remark-Harlan.

Hasan Mahmud has been involved in journalism since 2002. He is serving as the chief reporter of the popular news portal risingbd.com. Additionally, he is the President of two organizations: the 'International Relations Reporters Forum' (IRF), a professional organization of international relations journalists, and 'Cure SMA Bangladesh,' the only organization in Bangladesh working for the welfare of SMA-affected individuals and their families.

Earlier in January of this year, he received the 'GivingNow Award 2024' for his contribution to social service as a media professional. 

In October 2024, he received the Sher-e-Bangla Golden Award-2024 for his special contributions to journalism. In the same year, he received the joint Media Fellowship-2024 from the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection and the Association of Skincare and Beauty Products Manufacturers and Importers of Bangladesh (ASBMEB). 

In 2021, he received a special honor from the Bangladesh Writers Guild for his original contributions to novels.

He is a member of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ), Youth Journalist Forum, and Feni Journalist Forum.
