Law Adviser’s call not to grant bail hastily

Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul

Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul has urged the judges not to grant bail to suspects hastily.

He made the call while addressing a workshop on “Implementing the law emphasizing human rights and the environment in the changing situation of the country” at Bangladesh Police Auditorium at Rajarbagh on Tuesday.

Asif Nazrul mentioned, for decades, he has heard complaints from police about arresting suspects, only for judges to release them. “This issue has been ongoing for years. For 20-30 years, I've heard police officers say they work hard to arrest suspects, but the courts release them.”

The law adviser said the country is now passing a tough time following the dislodge of the fascist Awami League (AL) government in face of the student-people July-August mass uprising.

“They (the fallen fascist AL government) have destroyed everything from law and order to judiciary and the economy,” he said.

He said mob justice will be reduced if the police and court are functional.

Home Adviser Lt Gen Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Rted.) spoke at the workshop as the chief guest.
