Election date depends on July Charter: Press Secretary

When the national election will be held depends on the July Charter. Because, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has already said that the election may be held by December.

Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said this while talking to newsmen at the Foreign Service Academy on Saturday.

“We might be able to implement some of the recommendations. Then the political party that comes to power will implement the rest,” he said.

Explaining the July Charter, Alam said it would be a consensus document signed by all political parties after thorough discussions on the reports of six reform commissions. “We hope all political parties will sign the July Charter,” he added.

Chaired by the Chief Adviser, also head of the National Consensus Commission, the meeting with the political parties began shortly after 3:00 pm at the academy.
