We expect election as soon as possible: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said we expect the national election as soon as possible.

The BNP secretary general said this while talking to newsmen after the first meeting of the National Consensus Commission at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Saturday.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “We have said very clearly that the national election must be held first, then the local government elections.”

The BNP leader said political parties participated in initial discussions with the Consensus Commission. Different political parties made various remarks there. There was no constructive discussion during the first meeting. 

The meeting took place at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital this afternoon, chaired by Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
