The Anti-Corruption Commission has found evidence of irregularities and corruption in the recruitment of manpower at Bangla Academy.
In a recruitment process in 2022, a total of 175 people were secretly appointed to Bangla Academy through irregularities and fraud.
They were appointed secretly without disclosing the results of the practical and oral examinations. Of those who were appointed, 45 were employed on a contractual basis.
Even though these 45 people scored low marks in the written examination, they were finally appointed by giving them higher marks in the practical and oral examinations in exchange for a large amount of money.
After a drive at Bangla Academy on Monday (February 17) morning and reviewing the documents, such information was found.
The ACC said that when applications were invited against the vacant posts (180) in various categories, more than 50,000 job seekers applied.
A total of 4,000 candidates were shown passed in the written test but only 500 were called for the practical and oral tests.
Moreover, 175 people were secretly given appointment letters without disclosing the results of the practical and oral tests, the team observed.
