Former health secretary Jahangir Alam arrested

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB), has arrested Md Jahangir Alam, the former secretary of the health ministry's Health Services Division.

He was arrested from Dhaka early Tuesday (February 18).

Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Additional Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick said Jahangir was wanted in several case. He will be produced before the court showing arrest in those cases.

Jahangir had served as the secretary of the Health Services Division from October 2023. He was in the role during last year's mass uprising in July and August that toppled the Sheikh Hasina government. Later, the interim government sent him forced-retirement.
