Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus will join the summit of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) on April 4 in Bangkok of Thailand.
The Chief Adviser may hold a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit slated for April 2-4.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain said this at an interview with the Hindu published on Monday.
After holding talks with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar at the 8th Indian Ocean Conference organised in Muscat, the adviser said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus may finally meet on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC Summit in April.
In the interview, the adviser spoke about a number of thorny issues testing bilateral ties between the two countries, including attacks on minorities, Sheikh Hasina’s statements from India, border killings and the mistreatment of fishermen, as well as the issues over the Adani power project.
