Annoying matters: Couple hacked at Uttara

It is a common that a section of youths run their motorcycles at a risky speed and honking loudly on the streets and alleys of Dhaka city and other areas of the country.

A coupe was hacked by a gang in the city over the above matter, and it is now being discussed and criticized across the country.

On Monday (February 17), on Road No. 9 of Sector No. 7 at Uttara in Dhaka, around 9 pm, members of an organized terrorist gang publicly hacked the couple with sharp weapons. 

Md. Mehebul Hasan and his wife Nasrin Akhter Ifti used to live in a house on 9/A Road in Sector 7 of Uttara. They were seriously injured in the attack by the terrorists.

Mehebul Hasan is in critical condition. His office colleague Md. Rashed went to Uttara west police station to register a case in this regard. The plaintiff in the case is Nasrin Akhter Ifti.

According to police, Md Mubarok Hossain, 25, and Roni Roy, 22, have been arrested. They were produced before the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court. The court has granted a two-day remand, and they are being interrogated.

In a video, it was seen that Arafat and Saif were hacking the couple. But, the police could not be able to arrest them. Police suspect that the two accused live in Uttara area.

In his remand plea, Sub Inspector Deen Islam said the arrested Mubarok and Roni are members of a terrorist gang. Among them, there is a criminal case against Roni with Tongi police station.

According to the case statement, Mehebul Hasan and Ifti were returning from shopping at Amir Complex at Uttara. When they reached house number 10 on road number 9 in Sector 7 of Uttara, two motorcycles were passing by them with rough riding. One of their motorcycles hit a rickshaw at the intersection in front of them.

A four-year child and their parents were injured in the incident. The couple protested the matter. At one stage, the motorcyclists called more of their members over mobile phone and hacked the couple.
