3 get life term for raping teenage girl in Kamrangirchar

A court in Dhaka on Wednesday sentenced three people to life imprisonment for gang rape of a 13-year-old girl in Kamrangirchar.

Dhaka Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 Judge Munsi Md Mashiar Rahman handed down the verdict.

The court also fined Tk1 lakh to each, in default, to suffer another one-year imprisonment.

The convicts are – Mohon, son of Jamal Uddin, hailed from Faridpur village under Dhunat upazila of Bogura, Sabbir, son of Md Mizanur, hailed from Mukundagati village of Belkuchi upazila in Sirajganj, Rasel, son of Abul Kalam, of Chikandi village in Shariatpur.

According to the case statement, the convicts took the victim to an under-construction building in Hasan Nagar under Kamrangirchar police station and raped her on June 17, 2020. Later, the victim's mother filed the rape case. After investigating the case, Kamrangirchar Police Station Inspector Mohammad Mustafa Anwar submitted a charge sheet accusing five people.
