Magura rape victim dies

The eight-year-old girl from Magura, who was undergoing treatment following a brutal assault, died at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital (CMH).

Bangladesh Army confirmed the news through its verified Facebook page around 1:00pm on Thursday (March 13).

Col. Nazmul Hamid, professor of pediatric neurology at Dhaka CMH, said the child had two cardiac arrests this morning. After CPR, it took nearly 30 minutes for the heartbeat to return. Again, the kid suffered cardiac arrest around 12:00 pm. Despite this round of CPR, her heart bit did not return. She was pronounced dead at around 1 pm.

Earlier, on Wednesday night (March 5), the child was raped by her sister's father-in-law, who was allegedly helped by his son.

Later, on March 8, she was taken to Faridpur Medical College Hospital and then to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
