A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Mohammad Shafeenul Islam and his wife Shoma Islam in a graft case.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Thursday.
Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Sabikun Nahar filed a petition.
Public Relations Officer of ACC Akhtarul Islam confirmed the matter.
According to the petition, Shafeenul and his wife were found involved in accumulating illegal wealth through corruption and embezzling money after misusing power.
The ACC in its plea said the commission is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth. At this stage, the two accused can flee the country to evade justice and that is why travel ban should be imposed on them.
