Prime accused’s house torched in Magura

As the Achia's death news spread, the agitated people set fire to the house of the prime accused in the rape case on Thursday evening.

Eight-year-old girl who died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) after being raped a week ago was laid to eternal rest at her village home at Sonaikundi of Sreepur upazila in Magura district.

Her namaz-e-janaza was held after Maghrib prayers at Magura Nomani Maidan around 7 pm.

People from all walks of life participated in the janaza. Ameer of Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis Maulana Mamunul Haque, National Citizens Party (NCP) Chief Organizer (Southern Region) Hasnat Abdullah and Chief Organizer (Northern Region) Sarjis Alam attended the janaza.  

Earlier, a military helicopter carrying the body was taken to Magura from CMH on Thursday evening.

Protest erupted as the body of the eight-year-old rape victim who died at Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital arrived in Magura. 

Many were chanting slogans demanding the highest punishment for the rapist. 

Earlier, on Wednesday night (March 5), the child was raped by her sister's father-in-law, who was allegedly helped by his son.
