Major Hafiz on two-day remand

Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Dec 30: A Dhaka court on Monday noon granted a two-day remand for Major (Retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed, vice- chairman of BNP, in a case with Ramna Police Station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Harun-Or Rashid granted the remand plea rejecting his bail petition.
Earlier, Ramna police produced him before the court of Metropolitan Magistrate and sought a seven-day remand for interrogation to the BNP leader.
He was shown arrested in the case of torching a police vehicle and killing a policeman at Bangla Motor in the capital.
Hafizuddin was arrested on Sunday evening from the National Press Club.
