Home adviser defends Nusraat Faria`s arrest

Home Affairs Adviser Lt Col (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has seemingly defended the arrest of actress Nusraat Faria in an attempt to murder case, saying questions would have been raised if she was allowed to leave the country.

The adviser came up with the explanation while addressing a press briefing after a meeting at his ministry on Monday (May 19).

He said, “Now, if there’s a case against her, what should we do? If we let her go, then you would say, ‘Sir, you spared her’.”

"We will take measures to ensure that no innocent person is punished under any circumstances," he said.
