Plane makes emergency landing in HSIA after engine fire

A Turkish Airlines flight has made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, following a fire in one of its engines.

The aircraft was carrying 290 passengers.

The incident took place around 7:00 am on Tuesday (May 20). Sensing the issue, pilot managed to land safely immediately.

Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, Executive Director of the airport confirmed the matter.

Turkish Airlines flight TK713 (Airbus A330-303) departed from Shahjalal International Airport at around 7 am for Istanbul, Turkey with 290 passengers on board. About 15 minutes into the flight, the pilot noticed a spark in one of the engines (there are two engines). The pilot decided to make an emergency landing.

Airport sources said the passengers were offloaded from the plane and taken to a hotel by the airline authorities.
