No threat to country`s sovereignty through Starlink: Faiz Ahmad

Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser at the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunication and Information Technology, has said that there is no threat to the country's sovereignty through Starlink.

He said this while speaking at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Tuesday (May 20).

He said that they will have to use local gateways to provide services. As a result, information security and control will remain in the hands of Bangladesh.

Taiyeb said there will be no data limitations on the service, users will get completely unlimited data.

"Starlink's service is entrepreneur-friendly and there will be no bandwidth discrimination. It will open a new era in the country's technology sector.

In addition, Bangladesh's own broadband projects, such as the Sustainable Internet Development Plan with Chinese companies, will continue as usual. Those will not be disrupted because of Starlink, he added.
