Court to decide on Ishraque’s oath issue : Adviser Asif

Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan has said that “There are legal complications as the mayoral candidacy of Ishraque, and the matter is pending in the court.  There is no point in attacking me personally. The problem will be resolved in the court.” 

He said this in response to questions from journalists after the chief guest’s speech at the day-long ‘Youth Rally 2025’ organized by the National Youth Development Institute in Savar on Tuesday (May 20) afternoon.

Asif Mahmud said, “When the government works, it works as a body, no one can personally make decisions here. There is no reason to think that I am taking any major decision alone. There are legal complications here and the matter is pending in the court. We have sought the opinion of the Law Ministry on the complications.”

Jahangirnagar University's Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman was present at the event as a discussant.

A total of 700 people from different districts participated in the rally.
