Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, Deputy Press Secretary to Chief Adviser, has said that the government did not take any decision to open a humanitarian corridor with neighboring Myanmar. So, there is no need to be worried about this.
He was speaking at a training workshop for journalists at a hotel at Laboni Point in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (May 22).
“Journalists working in border regions face significant risks and obstacles in gathering and reporting news,” Majumder said.
The day-long workshop was organized by Cox’s Bazar Press Club with support from NGO Friendship.
Cox’s Bazar Press Club President Mahbubur Rahman inaugurated the session, while Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Shamsud Douza Noyon attended as the chief guest.
The workshop featured sessions on disaster reporting in coastal areas, fact-checking and unique challenges of journalism in remote and border regions.
Key speakers included Friendship’s Head of Communication Tanzila Sharmin, Cox’s Bazar PBI Superintendent of Police Motiur Rahman, Baishakhi TV Head of News Ziaul Kabir Sumon and Dr. Shahnoor from Friendship’s health division.
Around 50 journalists from across the district took part in the event, which concluded with the distribution of certificates to participants.
