Faiz Ahmad Taiyeb, special assistant to the Chief Adviser, has stated that Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus will not resign.
He made the announcement through his social media handle on Friday (May 23).
“Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus doesn't need power for himself, but for Bangladesh—for the country's peaceful democratic transition—Dr Yunus sir is essential. Rather, the cabinet needs to become more dynamic. The government must become more functional; the advisers need to take on greater responsibilities and present visible progress to the public. There can be no disagreement on this matter,” Faiz Ahmad wrote.
“He also stated, “We must demonstrate that, following the mass uprising and with the consent of the people, the Professor has successfully delivered results while in power.”
He said, “Dr Muhammad Yunus is respected by the global community, and it is our responsibility to uphold that honour. I believe the government must now engage in more intensive and regular discussions with political parties, actively seeking their opinions on various matters. Any form of isolation is undesirable.”
