BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that the national parliamentary elections must be held by next December. Citizens should continue the constructive criticism of the government ignoring threats.
He said this while addressing a virtual discussion at the capital’s Institution of Diploma Engineers on Sunday (May 25).
“Our expectation is now that the people will immediately see the most free and impartial national election in the country's history under the leadership of a skilled and competent and internationally acclaimed head of interim government,” he said.
He said that the most important thing to prevent dictatorship or fascism in a state is the political empowerment of the people.
“Taking advantage of any excuse or unnecessary delay in establishing a government accountable to the people in the people's Bangladesh through the people's vote, the fallen, fugitive and defeated autocrat is waiting to rise up,” the Tarique Rahman warned.
NPP (National People's Party) Chairman Fariduzzaman Farhad presided over the meeting where BNP Chairperson’s adviser Moazzem Hossain Alal, Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Chairman of Bhashani Janashakti Party, AB Party Chairman Mujibur Rahman Manju, BNP Acting Chairman’s adviser Dr Mahadi Amin and other attended.
