Protests continue at Secretariat for 3rd day

The Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees Unity Council staged a protest rally at the Secretariat for the third consecutive day on Monday (May 25), opposing the draft of the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.

Officials and staff began gathering at Badamtala in front of Building No. 6 of the Secretariat since Monday (May 26) morning. Gradually, a large number of officials and employees arrived there at 10:30 am.

Md. Nurul Islam, president of the Bangladesh Secretariat Officers and Employees Joint Council, said, “The strike will continue until this ordinance is cancelled.”

Earlier on May 22, the Advisory Council approved a proposal to amend the Government Service Act and issue it in the form of an ordinance.
