Travel ban issued against Barrister Sumon, 3 others

A Dhaka court a issued a travel ban on former Habiganj-4 lawmaker Barrister Saydul Haque Suman, and his wife Shammi Akter amid an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order on Monday (May 16).

The two others are Jagadish Chandra Mondal, former executive director (engineering) of Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (DESCO), and his wife Savita Mondal.

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) public relations officer Aktarul Islam confirmed the matter.

According to the ACC petition, reliable sources indicated that Barrister Suman was attempting to transfer movable and immovable assets abroad. The commission argued that his potential escape could seriously hinder the investigation.
