Muggers shoot trader, mugged of Tk 22 lakh in Mirpur

A group of unidentified assailants shot a trader and robbed Tk 22 lakh from him in broad daylight in Dhaka's Mirpur area on Tuesday (May 27).
The victim is known as Md Mahmudul Islam, 55, owner of a money exchanger.
Sources said the incident took place around 10:00 am. On information army, police and RAB personnel visited the spot.
Police sources said the trader was traveling to his office at Mirpur Section-10 from his residence in Mirpur Section-6 by a battery-run rickshaw. Meanwhile, six muggers on two motorcycles intercepted Mahmudul, shot him on the left side of his back, and made off with a bag containing the cash.
Mirpur Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Sajjad Rumman confirmed the matter.
