Officers, employees at Secretariat postpone their protests

Officers and employees at the Bangladesh Secretariat who are demanding the withdrawal of the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025 have postponed their protests.
They took this decision after a discussion with the government representatives at the Secretariat on Tuesday (May 27).
As a result, the Secretariat’s regular activities will be conducted as per the rules on Wednesday (May 28).
The representatives participating in the discussion will inform Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid about the demands of the protesters on the same day.
Earlier, the meeting began at 2:45 pm on Tuesday (May 27) in the conference room of the Land Ministry under the chairmanship of Land Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed.
Along with him, the secretaries of the Local Government and Housing and Public Works ministries were also present on behalf of the government.
Amid tight security, officers and employees continued their protests at the Bangladesh Secretariat for the fourth consecutive day on Tuesday (May 27), demanding the withdrawal of the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.
The protest began around 11am near Building No 6 in the Badamtoli area of the Secretariat at all entrances.
During the protests, the entire Secretariat area was abuzz with various slogans such as “The fire has been lit in our blood,” “Abolish the unlawful black law, employees reject this illegal law,” “We will not accept this illegal law,” “Unite 18 lakh workers,” and “No compromise, only struggle.”
