A low-pressure area has formed over the northwestern Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions.

Since morning, the weather in the coastal areas has been rough, with an overcast sky and intermittent light to moderate rain. The sea has become rough due to low-pressure system, prompting tourist police, lifeguards and beach workers to discourage tourists from swimming in the sea.

In a bulletin on Wednesday evening, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has advised four sea ports of Cox’s Bazar, Chattogram, Mongla and Payra to hoist local warning signal no. 3.

Additionally, fishing boats and trawlers in the Bay of Bengal have been advised to proceed with caution and remain close to the coast.

BMD also forecasted light to moderate rain over parts of country for next 24 hours beginning this morning.

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers with lightning and temporary gusty winds are likely to occur in most areas of Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and a few places in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions, the forecast added.

Moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Day temperatures across the country may drop by 1-2øC, while night temperatures are expected to decrease slightly.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 38.4 degree Celsius at Sylhet and minimum temperature recorded 24.4 degree Celsius at Bandarban.
