Democracy being obstructed at every step: Khaleda Zia 

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has said that the journey of country’s democracy is being obstructed at every step.

Khaleda Zia said, “Shaheed Ziaur Rahman was the unique maker of democracy, freedom of the press and judiciary, self-reliance, development and the own nationalism in this country. He was martyred in the struggle to establish democracy and protect sovereignty. But, the uninterrupted journey of democracy is still being hindered at every step. Soon, we will see Bangladesh will re-establish democracy. This should be our pledge on the anniversary of Zia” martyrdom.”

She made the remarks while virtually addressing an event on Thursday (May 29) marking the death anniversary of BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman.

Recalling the day of Zia's death, Khaleda said, “This day in May brings back deeply painful memories for our family every year. But it was not just our family — the entire nation was grief-stricken and suddenly left without leadership.”

She called upon BNP leaders and activists at all levels, as well as the people of the country, to move forward in a disciplined and united way to achieve that goal.
