Murder case: Menon placed on 5-day remand

A Dhaka court placed former minister Rashed Khan Menon on a five-day remand in a case filed over the death of trader Md Monir in the city's Shahbagh area during the quota reform movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate MA Azharul Islam passed the order after hearing on Monday (June 2).
On the other hand, Abul Hasan, former officer-in-charge (OC) of Jatrabari Police Station, and Shamima Akhter, leader of Dhaka Metropolitan North Jubo Mohila League were shown arrested in two separate cases.
Earlier, the investigation officer of the case, Shahbagh Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Mainul Islam Khan Pulak, applied for a 10-day remand of Rashed Khan Menon. Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) SI Amirul Islam Mir applied to show Abul Hasan arrested. Tejgaon Industrial Area Police Station applied to show Shamima Akhter arrested.
After the hearing, the court granted the application and ordered a 5-day remand of Rashed Khan Menon.
