Good news for new taxpayers

There is good news for new taxpayers as they will have to pay Tk 1,000 tax if their annual taxable income falls. 

Minimum tax for regular taxpayers is Tk 5,000.

The government did not increase the tax-free income for individual taxpayers in the proposed budget for the 2025–26 fiscal year. At present, it is Tk 3.5 lakh.

Individual taxpayers will see their tax-free income limit go up to Tk 375,000 from the fiscal year 2026-27.

Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed announced this while presenting the proposed Tk 7,89,999 crore national budget for 2025–2026. 

Bangladesh Television broadcast the Financial Adviser's budget speech live from 3 pm on Monday (June 2).  

Earlier, the budget was approved at a special meeting of the Advisory Council at the Chief Adviser’s office in Tejgaon, Dhaka, with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus in the chair.
