BNP leader Ishraque Hossain has said that if the oath taking ceremony is not arranged, I will take the oath myself and seize the chair.
BNP leader threatened this during a sit-in program in front of Nagar Bhaban in the city on Tuesday (June 3).
He said, “If there is no clear message from the government about the oath after the holiday (Eid holiday), I will organize a massive movement with the people from all walks of life and establish the right of people.”
He announced the protest at Nagar Bhaban, which has halted all citizen services for over two weeks, will remain suspended in a bid to allow smooth Eid celebrations.
However, after Eid, if the demand is not met, all “outsiders” will be evicted from the Dhaka South headquarters, he threatened.
The protest has been going on since 14 May, after a Dhaka court ordered the Election Commission (EC) to declare Ishraque as the Dhaka South mayor.
