Cultural Affairs Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki said all members of the Mujibnagar Government remained recognized as freedom fighters in the new ordinance.
He shared the information on Facebook on Wednesday (June 4).
Farooki wrote: “The claim that the freedom fighter certificates of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Tajuddin Ahmad and other Liberation War leaders had been revoked was fake news. All members of the Mujibnagar Government have remained recognized as freedom fighters in the new ordinance.”
Earlier, around 11 pm on June 3, the National Freedom Fighters Council (JAMUKA) published an ordinance in this regard in the form of a gazette.
According to reports circulating in some media outlets, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmad, Muhammad Mansur Ali and AHM Qamaruzzaman have been categorized as “associates of the Liberation War in the new ordinance, sparking huge criticism in the social media platforms.
