Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk-e-Azam has said that the four leaders including Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman not excluded from the list of freedom fighters.
The adviser said this while speaking to journalists at the Secretariat on Wednesday (June 4).
He said, "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the four leaders have definitely been included in the list of freedom fighters. They will remain. Why should they be excluded? They led the liberation war."
The adviser clarified that the ordinance actually affirms freedom fighter recognition for the Mujibnagar government members. The claims that the freedom fighter status of Bangabandhu and other members of the Mujibnagar government has been revoked are false.
Earlier, the interim government issued the National Freedom Fighters Council (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025, on Tuesday night, which revised the definition of freedom fighters.
