The advisory committee on government purchase has approved three proposals including LNG import through direct purchase method, repair of salvage ship ‘Pratyay’ and sale of vacant land of Bangladesh Jute Mill Corporation (BJMC).
The proposals were approved at a meeting of the committee held at the Secretariat on Wednesday (June 4) under the chairmanship of Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed.
Committee members and senior officials were present at the meeting.
According to the meeting sources, the committee approved a proposal by the Energy and Mineral Resources Department to purchase LNG from OQ Trading Limited UAE on a G2G basis in the short term in 2025 and 2026 under the direct purchase method based on the Japan-Korea Marketing Formula.
The committee also approved to procure the docking and docking-related repair work of BIWTA's salvage ship 'Pratyay' through the direct procurement method.
The salvage ship ‘Pratyay’ was procured by BIWTA in 2013. Although the ship is required to be repaired every four years, it has not been repaired even after almost 12 years of procurement.
