EU reaction after Chief Adviser’s election announcement

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has declared that the national election will be held on any day in the first half of April 2026.  

After the announcement, the European Union (EU) Delegation in Bangladesh made a reaction on its verified facebook page on Friday.

 “The Chief Adviser has announced a timeline leading to elections. The EU has consistently supported Bangladesh's political transition, calling for it to be underpinned by the rule of law, fundamental rights and lead to democratic elections,” EU said.

The European Union termed it as a pivotal moment for Bangladesh.

“The EU Delegation calls on all stakeholders to engage constructively in this process, and to take forward work to define an ambitious reform agenda that will lead to a more stable, more prosperous and democratic Bangladesh,” read the statement.
