EC to announce election date soon: Security Adviser

National Security Advisor Khalilur Rahman said that the Election Commission (EC) will announce the date for the next parliamentary election soon.

He said this in a joint press briefing after the meeting between Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at Dorchester Hotel in London, UK on Friday afternoon (June 13).

Dr. Khalilur Rahman said, "A joint statement has been released today regarding the elections. Now the Commissioner for the National Elections will announce a specific date very soon."

The overall preparations for holding the elections are progressing and the government is firmly committed to this, he added.

In the press briefing, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said the reform activities will continue not only before the elections, but also after the elections.
