Police will not have heavy lethal weapons: Home adviser

Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that field-level police personnel may carry weapons like rifles, but they will not be equipped with heavy lethal arms.

The adviser said this while replying reporters after visiting APBN headquarters on Saturday (June 14).

He said specialized units like the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) will have heavy weapons.

The home affairs adviser said the government is working to ensure overall development of law enforcement agencies, including APBn and regular police stations.
