Woman’s body found hanging in Dhaka hostel

Police recovered the hanging body of a woman from a hostel room in the Nilkhet area near Dhaka’s New Market on Sunday noon (June 15).

The deceased was known as Riya Aktar Shanta, 30, daughter of Jahangir Hossain Khandakar.

Hosne Mubarak, Sub-Inspector (SI) of New Market Police Station said after reaching the information from the hostel authorities, police found the room locked from inside. Later, the law enforcers broke the door and found that the victim was seen hanging from a ceiling fan with a scarf.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Details can be said later, the policeman added.
